Nokia moves distribution to Tilburg

2013-09-16

Links to barge terminal

NSN’s warehouse activities are currently accommodated at DHL in Roosendaal. It has previously been publicised that this contract expires this autumn. According to Coenen, the telecoms company chose DB Schenker as a result of the ‘solution being offered at a strategically advantageous location in Tilburg in combination with the sustainability of the premises and a good price.’ “Links are also possible with the adjoining barge terminal. Inland waterway and road transport are a good combination for our client and are also valuable in the context of ecologically-aware business practices.”

DC under construction

The sustainable building is currently under construction. The highest point was reached in August. “NSN chose this site on the basis of a drawing; nothing had been constructed at that point.”

Fulfilment services

DB Schenker provides fulfilment services for the primary destinations in Europe and takes a directorial role in relation to transport movements, according to Coenen. It also focuses on small-scale value-added logistics. The telecoms company still has ongoing contracts with various companies to which it has outsourced transport services.

Nokia’s Dutch press office referred to Nokia’s office in Finland for a comment. There, however, nobody was willing to provide a statement.
