2013-06-7

The distribution centre, which will cover approximately 47,000 square metres, will be built in two phases by Heembouw and will be ready this autumn. According to DOKVAST, the sustainability of the site was a significant factor in the decision to construct a building with a minimum ‘BREEAM Excellent’ certification.

Delivery mid-October

Building works are set to begin in July and the first phase, comprising 1,500 m² of office space and 21,000 m² of warehouse area, will be complete in October. Phase 2: 24,000 m² of warehouse space, will be ready one month later

Logistic hotspot ambition

“We know that, with the construction of the new container terminal, Tilburg is taking a significant step towards achieving its ambition to become a logistics hotspot for the Netherlands. It is also good to see that companies such as DOKVAST are choosing Tilburg as a location for their distribution centre”, said Tilburg Alderman Berend de Vries, from Groundworks and the Environment, yesterday, shortly after the agreement for the purchase of the land had been signed.

Sustainability ambitions

According to De Vries, Tilburg is aiming to turn Vossenberg West II into a sustainable logistics industrial estate. “This distribution centre will certainly help us realise our objectives”, says De Vries.
